Young Luv Singh, posted as a ranger in the Mohand range of the Shivalik Forest Division, Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, has built various structures under his supervision in the streams of Shivalik to ensure availability of water throughout the year for wild animals, trees, plants and human settlements present here. These include dams, tanks, wells and anicuts. Various water streams flow from the hills of the Shivalik range present here which meet Yamuna, Hindon and Ganga. The problem is that there is no water left here after the rains, because the water that comes in the rains flows away quickly.

The structures built here are providing water throughout the year to trees, plants, wild animals and human settlements. Due to this, the groundwater level is also gradually increasing here.

Such efforts need to be increased further here. We are planning to build such structures in the stream of Hindon river as well.
