Sh Rajeev Mital, DG-NMCG, chaired the 56th Executive Committee meeting, where 9 pivotal projects worth ₹265 Cr were sanctioned.
These projects aim to reduce pollution and improve the ecosystem of the #RiverGanga, marking a significant step toward the river's conservation and cleanliness.
In Uttar Pradesh, the following projects have been sanctioned:
1️⃣ Faecal Sludge Management in Dalmau, UP—₹4.40 Cr
2️⃣ Sewerage project in Gulaothi, UP—₹50.98 Cr
3️⃣ Arth Ganga Centre & Chheoki Railway Station branding in Prayagraj—₹1.80 Cr
Uttar Pradesh also witnessed the approval of the nature-based restoration of the Gomti River as well as the establishment of SLCR that will bring together all the best practices from across the globe and adopt them for Indian conditions.
4️⃣Nature-based restoration in the Upper Gomti Basin—₹81.09 lakh
5️⃣₹25.89 Cr for IIT-BHU's Smart Laboratory on Clean Rivers in Varanasi
NMCG greenlit key initiatives in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal as well. They include::
6️⃣₹25.89 Cr for Udhwa Lake Bird Sanctuary, Jharkhand
7️⃣ ₹522.85 Cr for Munger Sewerage Network & STP
8️⃣₹2.89 Cr for renovating electric crematoriums in West Bengal
9️⃣ ₹7.11 Cr for Penstock gates in Kolkata
These projects will drive sustainable practices, improve river quality, boost awareness, enhance river management and help curb pollution leading to Ganga’s Aviral and Nirmal Dhara.
